Volkswagen introduces VW Car-Net, an integrated convenience and diagnostic system, which will be available in the Jetta, Passat, Tiguan, CC, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, and Eos models. This system will enhance the overall security, comfort and safety of the cars.
Frank Weith, General Manager, Connected Services while addressing a press conference said that the new and improved system will offer features like Automatic Crash Notifications, Remote Vehicle Status and Service Appointment Schedules.
VW Car-Net will be offered with all of its features unlike many other applications available in the market, where independent subscription has to be made for each feature. VW Car-Net includes Agent Destination Assist that can be approached in 3 distinctive means; via the dedicated VW Car-Net buttons on the overhead console, by going to VW Car-Net Web Portal and through VW Car-Net Mobile App on a customer’s iPhone.
Salient features include Stolen Vehicle Assist, where the location of the stolen vehicle can be traced with the help of VW Car-Net Response Center. Agent Destination Assist will allow the drivers to get the directions directly from the VW Car-Net Specialist in the car. Moreover, Last Parked Location will allow the owner to get the last parked location of the car on a 2D map in the Mobile App.
Other features include Roadside Assistance, which can be activated by pressing the Wrench button on the overhead console. Similarly, Remote Vehicle Status allows the driver to check the status of doors, windows and trunk along with the sunroof on the mobile app. In addition to all these, there is Service Appointment Scheduling, that makes an appointment with the dealer through VW Car-Net Customer Specialist.
Last but not the least, there is Automatic Crash Notification which activates automatically in case of airbag deployment or roll over. The VW Car-Net client expert will immediately pass on the position of the car to the local Public Safety Answering Point.
