Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept – Review

The German automaker Volkswagen unveiled a concept of 2013 Volkswagen CrossBlue at the Detroit auto show earlier this year and now at the Shanghai Motor Show, the German automaker offered the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept to the Chinese market. Like its first concept, the new concept is also very amazing, cool and stunning and is showing how serious is the german brand about manufacturing an environment friendly efficient car. The official images are released to the internet after the Shanghai Auto Show. The CrossBlue Coupe concept is pretty much similar to the CrossBlue concept but the Coupe version carries a bit more refined look and sportier appearance with five seats instead of seven. The German automaker suggested that the production version of the CrossBlue will be build in the Chattanooga factory located in the USA and the car will be sold in the USA and China markets.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue concept presented in January was really amazing that made us happy and so have a detailed look at the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept with a believe that the German automaker will never disappoint its Chinese fans.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept

The CrossBlue Coupe Concept is pretty much like the CorssBlue concept with the addition of certain modern and fascinating details. The front end of the CrossBlue coupe concept is complemented with a one piece grille, impressive headlights, Daytime running light with 3D effect, swept back C-pillar, rakish A-pillar, large front air intake, matt aluminum highlight at the bottom of the doors, exhaust surround roof rails, tailgate mounted rear spoiler, LED taillights and a bonnet with twin air vents. The car measures 192.5 inch length, 79.5 inch width, 63 inches height and  117.3 inch wheelbase and car sit on 22 inch wheels. The CrossBlue coupe concept looks like a production prototype rather than a concept however, the concept impressed everyone at Shanghai and so we can expect that the German brand will soon start work on the production version.

The interior of the CrossBlue coupe concept made us believe that it is a concept not a production prototype. The Volkswagen shared very little information about the CrossBlue Coupe concept such as the car features five seats, 8 inch LCD screen with 3D navigation system, leather wrapped semi sports seats, two tone interior color scheme that is black and gray for the concept, flat bottomed steering wheel with few controls mounted on it, traditional gauges in the center console including speed and fuel levels and outside temperature etc.

Safety Features

The Volkswagen shared very little about the interior features of the car and so no safety features are shared however, we can expect a high end set of safety features from the German automaker.

Pricing and Availability

The German automaker, Volkswagen said “no current plans for the CrossBlue Coupé to enter production” and so the pricing details and release date are out of the question.

The CroosBlue Coupe concept can expect a tough competition from the BMW X6 because it is the first car which is a coupe like SUV.

  • Impressive look
  • Good power and performance figures

  • A complex drivetrain that makes high repair cost
  • No production plans yet

The Verdict

Though, the CrossBlue Coupe concept is just a paperwork but the idea looks great and we can expect something impressive from the production version.
