Toyota Motor Corporation took the stage of 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show to display an updated design of its concept car named Toyota i-Road. This mini trike is a synthesis of car and motorcycle and is powered by an all-electric powertrain.
The Toyota i-Road was first introduced in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show. However, the company has recently updated the design by making a few adjustments. This vehicle combines the convenience of a motorcycle with the comfort and stability of a car. The i-Road is what Toyota describes the future of urban transport.
The Toyota i-Road is less than three feet wide with a turning radius of around three feet. This ultra compact design can accommodate two persons and enables ease of handling in confined spaces. Being powered by the lithium-ion batteries, the Toyota i-Road is an environment friendly vehicle with zero emissions. Moreover, it can cover a distance of 50kms in a single charge.
The design seems much identical to the Mercedes-Benz F300 Life Jet concept, which was revealed in 1997. However, the Japanese automaker has done a great research in enhancing the idea of a vehicle that can prove to be a good alternative of a car as well as motorbike.
