Top 8 Hybrid Cars of 2012

As the years go by, hybrid cars become more and more advanced. The 2012 line-up of hybrid cars looks like a great one to me! It seems like only yesterday we were driving cars that were getting 20 miles per gallon. In 2012, we now have cars that get over 60 miles per gallon. That is incredible! These are some truly fuel efficient cars. Let’s take a look at 8 of the best hybrid cars of 2012!

2012 Lexus LF-LC 2+2 Hybrid Sport Coupe

Even though this car is still in the concept stage, everybody has their eyes on this car. The Lexus Hybrid Sport Coupe has a very sleek design that Lexus takes great pride in. The Lexus LF-LC is said to be the perfect “driver’s car” that really becomes one with the driver. This car has the perfect combination of power, handling, and most importantly, fuel efficiency. Keep your eyes out for this car!

2012 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid

The 2012 Jetta Hybrid has the same design as the 2011 Jetta, with a gas-electric motor that will be a full hybrid. Volkswagen has said that the Jetta Hybrid will have “best in class” fuel economy, which will probably be up around the 40-45 mpg range. Pretty darn good if you ask me.

2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid

The 2012 Fusion Hybrid gets about 41 mpg on the highway and 36 mpg in the city.  In this car, a tank of gas will get you about 650 miles which is extremely impressive!  With a starting price of $28,700, it is in the middle of the price range for similar vehicles.  All around a great car for anybody who is looking to save tons of money on gas without sacrificing too much performance.

Honda Civic Hybrid

The Honda Civic Hybrid was one of the first cars to really start the movement towards hybrid cars. The 2012 Civic Hybrid boasts a spacious inside, to go along with the increased power when compared to its’ predecessor.  The only complaint that people have of this car is that it has poor performing brake pads.  Big deal?  When you are getting an estimated 44 mpg, poor braking is definitely not on your mind.

2012 Toyota Prius

Along with the Civic Hybrid, the Prius started the revolution of hybrid cars.  The Toyota Prius is the best-selling hybrid vehicle in the whole world.  Talk about an impressive feat!  It is the most fuel efficient car in the world right now with a staggering 50 mpg.  The 2012 Prius has received great updates including new headlights/tail lights, new wheels, new infotainment area, and an improved audio system.  All of these updates are designed to improve the passengers comfort level.  The Prius is, and always will be, one of the best hybrid cars in the world.

2012 Kia Optima

The Kia Optima, in my opinion, is one of the more stylish hybrid cars.  The Optima has a 166-hp engine, ranking it as one of the faster hybrid options.  Even with a bigger engine, the Kia Optima still gets 40 mpg on the highway.  The 2012 Optima is a great hybrid car for sure!

2012 GMC Sierra Hybrid

We had to include a hybrid truck on this list!  The Sierra Hybrid gets 23 mpg, which is very impressive for a pick up truck.  This truck is most noted for having an unusual two-mode transmission that switches back and forth from gas to electric.  The GMC Sierra Hybrid is a terrific truck for anybody who needs a truck but also wants to get good gas mileage.

2012 Honda CR-Z Hybrid

Honda is marketing their newest hybrid as a “sport hybrid”.  This sporty hatchback is more efficient than any other hatchback around.  The CR-Z has a unique three-mode drive system where the driver can switch between Econ, Normal, and Sport, depending on the conditions or personal preference.  The CR-Z is perfect for anybody who wants a sporty, yet efficient, hybrid vehicle.

Well that completes our list of the top 8 hybrid cars of 2012.  What did you think?  Please let us know down in the comments section.  We love to hear from our readers.
