The GT is an important member of the BMW’s 5-series however the German brand decided to extend the 3-series with the addition of GT models and so the new 3-Series generation will have two Gran Turismo models, the 318d and the 320d. The models made their official debut at the 2013’s Geneva Auto Show and the models will hit the dealership somewhere in summer 2013. The specifications of the BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo models, 318d and 329d are officially announced by the German brand in order to help the potential buyers to place order for their favorite one.
Both models come in either 4 door or 5 door body styles measuring identical dimensions and wheelbase. The models will get power from a 1995 cc inline 4 cylinder diesel engine paired with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo Technology with variable geometry turbo charger. The engine cranks out 143 horsepower in 318d and 184 horsepower in 320d and torque of 320 NM or 236 lb ft and 380 NM or 280 lb ft respectively.
The Gran Turismo BMW 3-Series 318d and 320d is equipped with class leading standard safety features including driver and front passenger airbags plus side airbags, front and rear head airbags, crash activated head restraints, crash sensors and Tyre Defect Indicator.
Standard interior features include an electric power steering wheel, bench rear seat and 520 liter cargo area. A long list of standard and optional comfort and entertainment features are offered to the models including some technologically advance safety features that will multiply the price of the car. Optional exterior and interior packages are GT Sport Line, GT Luxury Line, GT Modern Line and M Sport Package. The BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo will be put on sale this summer however, the price info is not available yet. This may be ideal vehicles for hatchback lover with some strong customizing opportunities.
