Wolfgang Durheimer who currently heads Bentley made announcements some months ago about resuming the process of developing the Mulsanne Convertible. This development had gotten rumored since 2011, shortly after the Arnage replacement by Mulsanne in year 2009. The end machine in a Bentley Grand Convertible of 2015 got unveiled at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. The Bentley design which at this stage is only a conceptual model is a full-sized luxurious drop-top convertible. Released with lavish elements such as the stylish wooden panels, the Bentley model has gotten much consideration as an answer to Phantom Drophead Coupe by Rolls-Royce.
The Drive-train specifications of the Grand Convertible include twin-turbo V-8 engine with a 6.75-liter capacity. That same engine churns out a remarkable drive power of 530 hp and at minimum 1750 rpm, yield a torque of 811 lb-ft. Now, that’s more torque than what you get in super models such as the S65 AMG of Mercedes-Benz. Although the price specs are yet to be issued by Bentley, car experts speculate that the amount to be between $320,000 and $360,000 given that its regular sedan retails at $306,425.
Speed details for the concept Bentley convertible are also yet to get detailed, but will likely be 4.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mpg since the Mulsanne embodies the same speed. That will also drive the automobile at 190 mph top speed, leaving it as one of the world’s high-speed vehicles convertibles. What is more pleasing with this concept car is the diamond layout that gets clad in natural leather, a unique setup for an elaborate interior. The burr walnut dashboard stained with dark spots adds an energetic outlook to the convertible.
Apart from the competition this model might bring to Rolls-Royce, the above adorable motor features should encourage Bentley to start the production of this concept car.
