Audi Unveils its new Self-driving R8 e-tron in Shanghai

Yes, now you can reply to important emails, update your blog or upload selfies on Facebook while you are on road driving your car and this is possible if you own the all-new supercar Audi R8 e-tron. Audi, German auto-maker, showcased its latest concept car Audi R8-etron that features autonomous-driving technology.

Audi-R8--e-tron

Audi chose Shanghai for the world premiere of its self-driving vehicle, R8 e-tron, as China is the largest market for such high-end cars. It is China which contributes highest to global sales of Audi, as the sales reports projects that around 580,000 of cars were sold in China last year which is notably 18% higher than the previous year. This remarkable inclusion in the market of connected cars would certainly let Audi achieve the set sales target in 2015.

The new Audi R8 e-tron is now the third vehicle by Audi which features autonomous-driving technology after A7 and RS7. The engine it carries produces 455 horsepower and is capable of going from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.

Audi’s CEO, Rupert Stadler said, “The new Audi R8 e-tron piloted driving represents the technology trends in our industry and Audi A8 featuring the same autonomous tech will be available for consumers in 2017.”
