Most reliable cars in the world: Top 7 road-trustworthy cars

There is unprecedented growth in the level of road trustworthiness on most modern cars and this reliability arose as a result of revamp in safety, exterior and interior features, powertrains and performance , trims, etc, thus users who cherish long-lasting cars are caught up with the choice of which car is road trustworthy. In the recent survey of drivers’ experiences conducted by U.S. group, Japanese manufacturers made the top six on the list. And Toyota Motor Corporation is one manufacturer which stands tall among others. The aforementioned statement is consonance with another report on most reliable cars on road in 2013 which JD Power and Associate compiled.

Below is a list of most reliable cars from the overall winner.

1.    Toyota Prius C

The 2013 Toyota Prius C has a remarkable fuel economy and easy-to-use tech and climate features, though it has a harsh ride, underwhelming power and rough continuously variable transmission. Toyota Prius C has automatic transmission drivetrain, front wheel drive, gas/ 45 kW electric 14 1.5-liter engines which generate 73 horsepower and 82 pound-feet of torque while a pair of electric motor/generators supplies an additional 60 hp.

Placed between MSRP of $19,080 and $23,360, and available in one to four trim levels, Prius C has EPA estimate of 53/46 mpg city/highway. Its features include automatic climate control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, height-adjustable driver seat, traction control, stability control, antilock brakes, etc.

2.    Toyota RAV4

With good fuel economy and nimble handling, standard six-speed automatic or front- or all-wheel drive, Toyota RAV4 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder which produces 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque; though its 2.4-liter 4-cylinder delivered 116 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque and its 3.5-liter V6 delivered 269 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque.

Toyota RAV4

With three trim levels: base, Sport and Limited, the Toyota RAV4  has sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and sport front seat, power liftgate, keyless ignition/entry, a power driver seat, heated front seat and faux leather upholstery, navigation system, LED headlights, power-folding mirrors, rearview camera, cruise control, etc. It has an EPA estimate of 26 mpg in combined driving.

3.    Scion xB

After the second generation in 2007, the latest version has a 2.4-liter engine which generates 158 horsepower. Its U.S. model has an estimated fuel economy of 22mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway. Every xB supports a 2.4-liter inline-4 that produces 158 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It also has a five-speed manual transmission which is standard and an optional four-speed automatic.

Scion xB

It was rated as one of the top safest vehicles under $25,000 in 2008 with a basic price of $17,555. Offered in two trim levels: base and Release Series 9.0, its standard features include power accessories, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a six-speaker Pioneer sound system, antilock brakes, stability and traction control, air-conditioning, mirrors and locks etc; and highlights of  the Release Series 9.0 is unique Hot Lava paint and faux suede upholstery.

4.    Nissan Z

The Nissan 370Z is reputed for its remarkable performance, sculpted style with comfortable cabin though it has poor outward visibility, road noise arising from rough engine at high rpm. Available in hatchback coupe offering base, Touring and Nismo trims, or roadster (convertible), each comes in 3.7-liter V6 generating 332 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque with its mated to six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission

Nissan Z

Nissan Z’s basic features include automatic climate control, keyless ignition/entry, 18-inch wheel, leather-wrapped steering wheel, etc. Touring model has added faux suede upholstery, power heated seats, tec. 5.    Mazda MX-5 Miata

With an excellent handling and outstanding fun-to-drive factor, available retractable hardtop, though marred by cramped interior and small trunk, the 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a rear-wheel drive and two-seat convertible. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 167 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 166 pound-feet of torque at 4500 rpm coupled with a standard five-speed manual transmission and optional six-speed automatic transmission. It comes in three trims: Sport, Club and Grand Touring.

Mazda MX-5 Miata

Its basic features include driver-focused control layout, six-speaker stereo with auxiliary input jack, automatic control, leather seats, heated seats, satellite radio, push-button start, leather upholstery, etc. It has a starting price of $26,720. With a top speed of 127 mph, it can sprint 0-60mph (0-97kph) in around 6.5 seconds. Its EPA city/highway driving is 20/26 mpg.

6.    Lexus ES 350

The Lexus ES 350 is a four-door sedan with 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of generating 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. It has front-wheel drive, six-speed automatic transmission, ten airbags, fuel economy of 24 mpg of urban and highway combined, though an ES 300H hybrid version with its reliability can deliver 40mph.

Lexus ES 350

With prices of ES350 starting at $36,370 and ES 300H $39,250, the basic features of this car include a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, premium vinyl upholstery, etc; with optional ones such as xenon headlamps, adaptive cruise control, real wood trim, navigation system, eight-way power front seats, etc.

7.    Acura RDX

The 2014 Acura RDX is reputed for its elegance, fine safety, comfy interior, athletic handling, but its beauty is marred by hesitant transmission and poor exterior. As a successor to the MDX in 2006, the Acura RDX is a five-door SUV. It features a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is capable of generating 273 horsepower at 6200 rpm, a front wheel drive with fuel consumption of 20 city /28 highway mpg and 23 mpg combined.
