How To Get The Best Out Of Your Lexus CT Hybrid

The Lexus CT Hybrid is one of the most-popular vehicles in its class and is billed as an “entry-level” luxury hybrid vehicle.

The CT Hybrid has been in production since 2011 and is powered by the  1.8 litre VVT-i petrol engine used in the Toyota Prius.

Based on the same platform as the Toyota Corolla, the luxurious Lexus features a plethora of refinements and features that you would expect from such a luxury car brand.

If you are lucky enough to be the proud owner of a Lexus CT Hybrid, or perhaps you are about to pop down to your local Inchcape Lexus to buy one, you have clearly made a good purchasing decision!

One question that a lot of Lexus CT Hybrid owners ask me, is whether they are doing enough to get the best out of their cars. If that is a question that you have been pondering recently, let me help you out with this handy guide!

Be a better driver

Let’s face it; we all have different driving styles, and, for the most part, they are good driving styles. The trouble is; there is a small minority of drivers that have picked up bad habits.

I always say to Lexus CT Hybrid owners that one of the best ways of improving what their cars have to offer is by improving themselves first!

Here are some examples of how you can be a better driver:

  • Be observant of your surroundings – whenever I am out on the road, I often come across people that are in a daydream of some description! They are usually the people that you try to wave through during busy traffic, but are seemingly in another world;
  • Anticipation is key – if all motorists drove well 100% of the time, there would be no need for car insurance! Sadly, we are only human, and we will all suffer from momentary lapses in judgement or concentration. Therefore, you should try to anticipate the actions of other road users before they do so that you minimise the risk of being involved in a collision.

Plan your journey in advance

Many of us lead busy lives, but that is no excuse for not planning journeys before getting behind the wheel! With the numbers of smartphone owners increasing, it is perfectly possible to use a mobile device as a satellite navigation tool.

Planning your journey before you leave will ensure that you have taken into account the best route permissible, as well as avoiding any known traffic black-spots or areas where there are roadworks.

Brake early and gently

You will doubtless be aware that the Lexus CT Hybrid features regenerative braking technology.

In order to make the most of this technology in your car, you should brake as early and gently as possible. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you should drive around with your foot permanently on the brake pedal!

Instead of braking hard just before you need to, consider braking earlier and more gently to keep your battery well-charged.
