When it comes to the wood trims to a vehicle’s interior, the first name that comes into mind is the Cadillac as this is the brand which is known for its luxurious trims and high end interiors. The engineers and designers of this luxury brand are always in search of finding new, superior quality and elegant woods to introduce unique furnishing standards. The interior of the Cadillac XTS is recognized as among 10 Best Interiors of 2013 by the editors at Ward’s Auto from 46 refreshed and new nominees. The Cadillac design manager Erin Crossley said “By using multiple woods, we were able to come up with a rich mix of materials that will appeal to different customers. Sapele, for instance, has a rich grain structure with a lot of movement. Just by looking at it, you know that it is genuine.”
For the upcoming 2014 Cadillac XTS’s interior, the designers will use Sapele, a fast growing wood usually used in acoustic guitars for a little zing and more beautiful music. The XTS feature the Sapele in “Nutella” brown and “Raven” black tones to add an extraordinary luxurious feel and elegance to the car. The Platinum model of XTS will get higher level and more refined interior which will be a blend of Opus Leather upholstery with genuine Sapele wood accents to create a super luxurious atmosphere.
The Cadillac director of design Eric Clough said “The woods featured in the XTS are purposefully placed to make the width and space of the interior feel as roomy as possible, it is this kind of attention to detail that luxury car customers have come to expect from Cadillac.”
No doubt, the Cadillac designers are very skilled and curious in the selection of wood furnishing and so they do a research about different materials, colors and grain movement in order to deliver a class-leading interior.
