94.2 MPG- Mercedes Benz S-Class Plug-in Hybrid Saloon Sets New Performance Benchmarks

The S-Class of Mercedes Benz is already popular for its utmost luxury and class leading performance but the new 3rd hybrid version of the S-Class, S-500 Plug-in hybrid will go beyond the limits of performance and efficiency. The S 500 Plug-in Hybrid is one of the best luxury saloons on the face of the planet and the car is particularly known for its impressive efficiency. The model is equipped with a 3.0 liter V6 turbocharged engine that lifts the car up to 100 kilometers when the fuel tank is full and as the Powertrain is paired with 80 kilowatt electric motor  that lifts the car in electric only mode up to 18 miles without emitting any CO2. The model is designed on the same formula of the rest of the S-Class to deliver high end luxury, comfort and technologically advanced equipment with matchless 94.2 mpg efficiency and 69 g/km CO2 emission. In this regard, the S 500 hybrid is not only highly fuel efficient but at the same time is environmentally friendly.


The Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Product Engineering, also responsible for Board of Management for Group Research, Prof Dr Thomas Weber said “With the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID Mercedes-Benz sets another milestone on the road to emission-free mobility on the basis of our modular hybrid matrix. In this way the S-Class turns into a genuine three-liter car with generous space and superlative drive-system comfort.”

The S 500 Plug-in Hybrid will hit the dealership somewhere in 2014. The car has four driving modes selectable with a single push of a button including Hybrid, E-Mode (Electric power only), E-Save ( the battery is fully charged and kept reserved to drive on electric only mode when required) and Charged (during driving the battery get charged).
