13th of January was a great day for Chrysler in Detroit Auto Show especially with its bid to reclaim its global auto space. The emergence of 2015 Chrysler 200 Sedan with its attractive design is a proof of the company’s plan to fill the lacuna left by its predecessor. Built based on architecture of Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee, Chrysler 200 is reputed for its smooth and sophisticated appearance, stunning interior details and designs with all-wheel drive available on most of the line-ups, though with inadequate trunk space.
With all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 set to commence deliveries in about April 2014, there is enough evidence that Chrysler 200 sedan, with its smooth, rounded and refined grille, is out to fill the gap where Saab left off. It has elongated roofline, great taper plus flush decklid coupled with concealed exhaust outlet. The developers were of the opinion that the 200 S V-6 model speaks to the “dark side of Chrysler” with its flamboyant and emotional exterior. As iconic car with American design within Chrysler 200 interior, the makers employed the same polish evident in the Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Durango.
Chrysler has powering options. Its power will be generated through a 2.4-liter four-cylinder “Tigershark” four-cylinder engine which is capable of generating 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. Or through a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine which is capable of generating 295 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Chrysler 200 is a front-wheel-drive car with all-wheel as option on all trims except base-level four-cylinder model; all 200 trims get nine-speed automatic transmission.
Heavily faced with competition from Acura TSX, Buick Regal, Volkswagen CC, the EPA fuel economy figures of 200 sedan are not yet publicised; however, Chrysler maintains that most popular powertrain combination, that is the four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, will beat a 35-mpg EPA rating on highway, thus amounting to best-in-segment 0.27 coefficient of drag.
Pricing of 2015 Chrysler 200’s base LX model starts at $22. It has 17-inch wheels and a basic urethane steering wheel with audio control buttons and four-speaker stereo system. Its 200 Limited model starts at $24,250 with its 5-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth, six-speaker stereo system and one-touch front windows. The 200S starts at $25,490 and will get black cloth seats with blue leather, a power driver’s seat and a leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, firmer suspension setup, and will feature 18-inch wheels. The top of the line model for Chrysler 200 is the 200C with a starting price of $26,990. It comes with standard heated leather seats, a rearview camera, remote start, dual-zone climate control and 17-inch wheels, etc.
