The 2014 BMW 4-Series Grand Coupe recently created a buzz with its first-look pictures that lately went viral before its official launch at the Geneva Motor Show. If you look at the leaked pictures, you are likely to be confused; despite it being a coupe, the 2014 BMW 4-Series Grand Coupe ironically has four doors instead of two. However, details from the manufacturer confirm that the extra entrances have been designed to attract more customers, as the two-door coupe wasn’t suitable for all customers.
It, nonetheless, has maintained the same scale for this final edition of the 4-series coupes, as the last two. The length has been maintained at 4683mm; width at 1825mm; and the wheel base at 2810mm. The only scale that has been altered is the roof, which has been pushed 12mm further atop and is 112mm long.
You will have the liberty to choose from five powertrains initially, including the similar mix of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines as in the other coupes of 4-series. If you are in the US, you can choose from familiar powertrains; the 428i Gran Coupe with 240hp turbo 4-cylinder, and 435i Gran Coupe with 300hp TwinPower 3-liter turbo six. However, all powertrains will have 8-speed automatic transmission.
All the models of the Grand Coupe sport similar exteriors, except for the recent coupe, which comes with four doors instead of two. As for the rest of the designing, there is nothing significantly different. The interior is done in similar leather fashion and has slight changes to the placement of buttons around the dashboard. You even get a small sunroof, but that again is a part of all 4-Series cars.
Prices of the 2014 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe are expected to begin from $41,225 in US markets, which includes destination and handling charges. These can go up to $46,725, depending on the model you decide to buy.
